When should I report a claim?
When you know that your medical condition is disabling or you are going to be out of work for an extended amount of time.
How do I initiate a claim?
By contacting Harvey Watt & Co. (HWW) and advising us that you need to file a claim. Your information will be taken by our claims support staff and your claims consultant will follow up with you. Where do I get a claim packet? You may download a claim packet from the APA website, File an APA Claim webpage or contact our office and our claims support staff will mail, fax or email a claim packet.
What happens once HWW receives my claim?
Your claim will be reviewed by your claim consultant and a determination of your claim will be made. You will receive written notification along with APA & HealthFirst of the determination.
What is an Elimination Period (EP)?
The Elimination Period is the length of time prior to benefits being payable during which you are continuously disabled. The Elimination Period starts on the date of disability and continues for the duration of what is scheduled on the APA/POD plan.
- Timely Filed Claims: (Claims filed within six months from the onset of disability) will have a 14 month (EP).
- Untimely Filed Claims: (Claims filed after six months from the onset of disability) will have a 12 month (EP) from the date HWW receives your claim.
When do my benefits start?
Benefits will start after the completion of the Elimination Period.
When is the POD checks disbursed?
All POD check is disbursed from Health First at the end of the month.
How can I submit my medical information?
You may submit your claim packet, medical information and other correspondence via postal mail, fax or email.
How often will update claims information be requested for ongoing management of my claim?
Your claim is regularly monitored and evaluated based on medical claims data received and the fact of the claim. Updated medical information will be requested as necessary based on individual claim facts.
What happens if I am released to return back to work?
Notify your claims consultant and provide a copy of your medical release to return to work, and any correspondence from the FAA.
