About Harvey Watt & Company

Over 60 Years Helping Pilots

A thirty year Eastern Pilot, Harvey Watt, recognized the unique needs of airline pilots. First hand, he saw the devastating consequences a pilot faced when a FAA certificate was lost. In 1951 he pioneered “Disability Loss of License” insurance. At a time when insurance just wasn’t available, he provided lump sum cash payment to disabled pilots so that they could use it as they wanted. Today, we’re still doing the same thing; helping pilots overcome the potential loss of flying status.

We help keep pilots flying, protect their potential, and maximize the results of their labors. Every pilot is facing a more complex world. Nothing is remaining the same and experience and knowledge are becoming more vital.

Working For Pilots

Keeping Pilots In The Cockpit

A pilot’s ability to fly is his or her most valuable asset. It provides a home, life style, children’s education and ultimately determines a comfortable retirement. We believe your best protection against misfortune is information and education. Health problems are a primary cause of loss of flight status. That’s why we have a full time Senior Aeromedical Physcian on staff serving as our Medical Director along with other Senior AME's. He serves as a medical resource and provides free medical advice to our clients. We also publish the Aviation Medical Bulletin. This monthly publication brings timely health information in a concise, interesting format.

Protecting Your Potential

The financial potential for an airline pilot is one of the highest of any profession. Protecting that potential is important. We offer Disability Loss of License and Life Insurance. These financial tools assure your family a certain level of benefits, even if you become unable to continue providing for them. Disability Loss of License has two basic formats. A Monthly Pay Loss of License program provides you with enough tax free money to take care of bills and keep your life together until you recover. Lump Sum Loss of License is unique in that it provides you with one tax free cash payment if a disability is going to take you permanently out of flying. Together the two will provide you with income to live on and cash to reestablish your future.

Superior Value

As an added value to all of our customers, our Aero-Medical Team is standing by to assist you. Our experience tells us that, in most cases, when a pilot isn't back on flight status within 18 to 24 months, it is likely that the pilot will never go back to the cockpit. Therefore, aggressive and supportive Aero-Medical assistance is critical - and the sooner the better. Here at Harvey Watt & Company we've insured and helped pilots from Legacy Carriers, LCC's, Regional Carriers, Corporate pilots, to Private pilots. Whether you are a pilot holding an individual policy, part of a group contract for Aero-Medical Services, or a member of an airline or union for which we manage your policy, we can help. From simple medication questions to Doctor to Doctor consults we have all of the experience and resources necessary to help keep you in the cockpit or get back as soon as possible.
